Is Brain integration just for children?
Brain integration technique has had proven results with all age groups. Younger children may not be able to perform some of the assessments due to fact that they have not yet acquired the skills required (such as reading). In such a case, integration would be completed and a follow up would be suggested when those skills are introduced.

How long does Integration take?
The length of time will vary according to the challenges that a client has. A typical integration on a client with limited challenges will take on average between 9 to 12 hours. Clients with a greater number of challenges will require a greater amount of time to achieve integration. The amount of time that will be needed to complete the integration will be estimated at the initial assessment.

What does Brain Integration do?

Very basically Brain Integration unblocks the areas of the brain that have been affected by physical or emotional trauma. Brain Integration Starts with the corpus callosum that is akin to the wiring harness of the brain and is responsible for directing incoming information to the appropriate areas of the brain to be processed. The next areas focused on are the processing centers; each of these areas are addressed to insure proper function and their ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the brain. We then address the emotional sub-conscious to clear any emotional blocks to learning.

Can I have the Integration done over a period of time?
Integration can be done over several appointments, In fact some younger clients and those with physical challenges may not be able to lie still for an extended amount of time, in these cases integration can be spread out over an extended amount of time in order to accommodate that client. It is suggested that very young children be scheduled for multiple one-hour appointments on the same day with breaks in between.

Can my child be integrated while on medications?
The integration will not be affected by medications, nor will medications be affected by the integration. If you have further concerns please contact your treating physician or psychiatrist. We are not medical doctors and we do not make recommendations regarding medications.

What do I need to do in preparation for the integration appointment?
We suggest you come to the appointment well rested and hydrated. Avoid any foods that may cause excess energy or hyperactivity prior to the appointment. Wear clothes that are comfortable and non-binding

Do I need to bring anything with me?
Depending on the length of the appointment, you might want to bring water and a light snack. If the client is a child, you may also bring small toys for them to play with (toys may not contain magnets or batteries). Some other options are talking books or reading materials as well as music for them to listen to (audio devices must have speakers other than earphones). You will need to be prepared to fill-out a medical history on the client including birth information and current medications.

Where can I find more information on Crossinology?
Susan McCrossin has a web site at www.crossinology.com that is a very good source of information including the research that has been done to verify the effectiveness of  this Brain Integration Technique. She has also written a book on the subject Breaking the Learning Barrier: Eradicating ADD, ADHD and Dyslexia that contains testimonials, research results and a typical treatment description.

How long before I start seeing results from the integration?
That varies from client to client, some will see results immediately while others will not fully see the effects for weeks or even months afterwards. One determining factor will be what areas the challenges are in. For example, a child with eye tracking challenges should see the results immediately, while a child with reading challenges may not see the full results until they resume their schooling or have been reading for a length of time. One thing that must be taken into consideration is Brain Integration does not teach the brain; it enables the brain. Therefore a client will not truly see the results of the integration until they challenge themselves academically.

How long does this treatment last?
Brain Integration is a permanent one-time procedure. The only reason a person would need to be fully re-integrated would be because they sustained a head injury that caused unconsciousness. A client that experiences a severe emotional trauma might feel like he/she have lost their integration. In fact a BIT practitioner will be able to address the emotion and clear the block causing the brain function to come back on-line.

Who can benefit from integration?
Almost everyone can benefit from integration, especially anyone who has sustained any kind of physical or emotional trauma in his or her lives. Brain integration has been proven effective in treating learning difficulties, job performance and stress management just to name a few. Persons that have sustained head injuries and stroke have had very good results from integration. Although integration will not reverse organic brain damage, it will enable the person to realize the full potential of the unaffected areas that remain.
